Coming off a double podium at Battle at the Border (1st in Open, 2nd in Freestyle), Zack Gallagher’s impressive competitive resume continues to grow. On day one of the competition, Gallagher seemed to be in control of most of his freestyle matches, stringing together complex lines with confident and experienced fluidity. He swept each of his matches 3-0 up until the finals, at which he was cut short of a first place podium by Alex Mitchell of Sol Kendamas, who scored 3-0 with the judges. Still, a second place podium is nothing to be overlooked, especially at the longest running kendama competition in the US. On day two, he set his sights on the Open division and it was straight to the top from there. With a few early dominant performances and some clutch maneuvers later in the tournament against Jacob Trebil and Logan Tosta, Gallagher fought his way to finals to face Edwin Tickner of 365 Kendama. This was his most impressive showing yet, besting Tickner 5-1 with an incredible trick efficiency rate of 77.8% (7 makes out of 9 attempts). With a playstyle that involves a multitude of categories, ranging from quick handed ken flip and juggle combos to rock steady stall lines and perches, there is virtually no trick out of reach for Zack Gallagher. It seems like the ceiling is continuously rising for Zack and his twin brother Nick, and this impressive display is proof of that. Zack Gallagher currently lives in Seattle, WA and has been a sponsored player for Sweets Kendamas since 2014.
