Competitors dug their feet into the sand at this iconic Washington event. It was one of the most highly anticipated Kendama events of the era, ushering the almost completely online community to congregate in-person. This resulted in the formation of many long standing relationships that remain true to this day. The Battle in Seattle was also a tour stop for both the 2012 KG Roots Tour (Kendama USA) and the 2013 KenCo Story tour (Kendama Co), and was one of the earliest US competitions to incorporate Open format.
